SÄKATONIT Extra AR-F

Following the December 2022 SÄKAPHEN website publication of the outstanding 5-year track record for On-Site Box Cooler Coating there is now a detailed backstory available to view in the renowned professional journal Heat Exchanger World. Click here to read the full story.

In the latest edition of Heat Exchanger World published this week, Christoph provides an extensive insight into the challenges that are involved in developing a successful on-site coating solution for Box Coolers that at the same time withstands exposure in a marine environment whilst also fulfilling extensive green product credentials as required.

For Box Coolers that are manufactured from Copper Nickel Aluminium (Cu-Ni-Al) and installed in a Carbon Steel (CS) Sea Chest, SÄKAPHEN's two-component epoxy hybrid flooding system SÄKATONIT Extra AR-F offers outstanding resistance to sea water as well as a hydrophobic surface that resists adhesion of marine growth such as barnacles, providing safe and reliable operation and effective protection against galvanic corrosion. This is achieved by a carefully formulated filler composition where the heat transfer exceeds most heat cured linings and has been proven by independent third-party testing. The coating does not contain any biocidal fillers as the industry moves towards a more environmentally friendly, greener shipping.

The article aims to provide the reader with an understanding of the coating material, application and that service life cycle extension and protection against galvanic corrosion is a reality. To read the article in full, please click on the cover of the magazine.
